There are two criteria for green energy sources – they must be renewable, and they must have very low carbon dioxide emissions. I encourage you to look at the wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renewable_energy, which does an excellent job of summarizing. The most promising sources of renewable energy are solar, wind, and hydroelectric. Up and coming sources include tidal, geothermal, and wave power. Biofuels may also comprise a large portion of our future energy mix. Finally, nuclear energy, though very controversial, is a well established clean energy source and would be even better if we reprocessed the fuel and found a good way to deal with the waste.
