In the US wind energy has big potentials and more than 30 states use some sort of wind generators. According to 2009 data, Texas has the biggest wind generators in the US (with 9403 MW), followed by Iowa (3604 MW), California (2798 MW). The western part of the US is highly developed in this regard, as well as central America. Vermont has the lowest capacity as of 2009 with 6 MW. The south eastern states however lack in this aspect, they do not use wind turbines. The map in the citation gives you a clear idea about the situation.
