The Thule Air Base is located near Thule, Greenland, approximately 750 miles north of the Arctic Circle. That being said, it is the United States Air Force’s northernmost base. It also has a 10,000 foot runway, which more than 3,000 international and U.S. flights use each year. Because it is located so far north, the Thule Air Base offers an array of scenery, from icebergs to Wolstenholme Fjord – the place at which three active glaciers join together.
Located 750 miles North of the Arctic Circle, the Thule Airbase is the northermost U.S. airbase. Visible from the base are icebergs in the North Star Bay and the Wolstenholme Fjord – the only place on Earth where three active glaciers join together. The base is home to missle-warning sensors and space surveillance and control.
