Yes, Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir were friends.  The two men bonded over their love of nature.  Most famously, they took an extended hiking trip through Yosemite National Park together.

John Muir wrote many letters to lawmakers asking for nature preservation laws which attracted Roosevelt’s attention since he was very interested in conservation himself.  Together, the two men created several national parks in America.  The National Park Service website calls Muir “the Father of the National Park Service.”
