Most vanilla is grown mainly in Madagascar, Indonesia, Mexico and Tahiti. It needs to be grown in a tropical area. Typically temperatures need to be within 20 degrees latitude of the equator.
The vanilla plant is a member of the orchid family, and Madagascar now produces the largest amount of vanlla in the world. The fruit of the vanilla plant contains the aromatic flavoring that is known and loved so well.
