The Hudson River is the largest and most toxic superfund site in America. Decades of pollution have contaminated an area of over 200 miles.
The Clark Fork River site in Montana has been called the largest Superfund site after being listed in 1983. Toxic mining sediments collected in the area after a 1908 flood washed several million cubic yards of heavy metal, arsenic laced sediments into the river. The ten-year cleanup is beginning right now.
