Where does propane come from?

Propane is a contaminate of natural gas and is separated before the natural gas is transmitted via pipeline to avoid the propane from condensing and causing problems in the pipeline. Propane also comes from the oil refinement process. As a result of its byproduct nature the demand for propane has little effect on its price or production. Foreign imports help meet demands when domestic production falls short and surplus propane is stored.
