Where does most of the worlds seeds come from?

    Most US seeds are purchased from what are called seed catalogs. In the US, the majority of seeds for crops like corn, cotton, soybeans, rice and wheat come from large agribusinesses like Cargill and Monsanto. Currently more than 89 percent of soybeans, 60 percent of corn and 80 percent of cotton plants come from genetically modified crops from these companies. Other organic seeds can be purchased from seed catalogs, but usually they are not from these large companies.
