Where does the DOE get the money that they give out?

    As Mr. Gibson stated, taxes fund the appropriations that are given to individual agencies of the US government. The DOE requests funds each year and Congress determines how much to give. The link below shows the DOE’s budget request to Congress for the 2012 year. They are requesting $29.5 billion, an 11.8% increase over 2010’s request for $3.1 billion.
