The US is the second biggest producer of copper, after Chile. Within the United States, copper mines are found across the county. Some state with many copper mines are Arizona, California, and Michigan.
In 2009 the US was the #3 producer, after Chile and Peru. In the US, no substantial copper is produced by either California or Michigan, as indicated by the other answer. Michigan historically had a lot but today 99% of US copper comes from Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, and Montana.
