Iron ore is found in rocks, usually metamorphic Hematite rocks which have been subjected heat and pressure under the Earth’s surface. Miners dig out large quantities of these rocks from mines, then subject them to chemical and physical processes which weed out impurities, leaving mostly iron. Most of the iron ore on the planet is produced by China, Australia, and Brazil.
