Sunflowers are native to North America. In Kansas, wild sunflowers are so prevalent, they’re considered a weed. Wild sunflowers can be found easiest in the plains states (Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, etc.). There are 60 species of sunflower in the US, and 40 of them are found east of the Rocky Mountains.
