where do maritime polar air masses originate and what type of weather do they indicate?

    Maritime polar air masses usually form over cold ocean currents or high latitude ocean water (northern oceans).  It is usually very moist air, so it commonly brings long lasting rain, fog, drizzle, and other moisture.  They also tend to bring colder fronts because they do form over cold water.
