If you let grass grow long enough, it will sprout seeds on the ends. Seeded grass can usually be found in lawns that have not been cut for a long time, hence the expression “letting something go to seed.” The seeds will grow in little clumps for most grass varieties, just like the seeds on a stalk of wheat.
