Dust mites can be found almost anywhere there is dust; they are especially attracted to mattresses and pillows because they like to feed on dead skin cells. Mites can travel by clinging to clothing, fur, or feathers, allowing them to find new places to live in a home. The links below have tips for getting rid of dust mites.
Dust mites are extremely common in human habitats, though they do best in high (75-80F) temperatures and high humidity (70-80%). They feed on dust, and are so small, they are nearly impossible to see without magnification. They can often thrive without notice, though some people are allergic to their presence.
