In Southern Sudan, people have to wander around until they find water. Often, they will have to drink contaminated water from shallow wells or surface ponds. Sometimes they will spend hours each day walking to find water.
The situation varies from place to place, though.
Many humanitarian organizations are working on building wells for the places that do not have access to clean water.
Water is either transported in or, more likely, aquifers are tapped.
