Where did the term tsunami come from?

    Tsunami is originally a Japanese term from the 1800s. It refers to a series of waves caused by the disturbance of a large body of water (think ocean or sea), like an earthquake, underwater landslide or other incident. The word has two components, tsu (harbor) and nami (wave).
