Where is deforestation a problem?

    Well, one could be said anyplace with out of control deforestation is a problem – or basically any area where they cut down trees without replanting at a matching or greater rate, but I can give you a list of the areas where its the worst!


    Nigeria is deplorably bad. The deforestation rate is over half of their primary forests per year! Less than one percent of their major forests remain! The same is true of Vietnam, that just barely squeezes in as not as bad as Nigeria. From there we have Cambodia, which shows a marked “improvement” in that only about 30% of their forests are being cut down per year. They have less than 2% off their primary forests remaining. Sri Lanka and then Malawi are next on the list.
