One place, apparently, is on the Palouse — the prairie that stretches from Idaho into Eastern Washington state. A giant Palouse earthworm, an eight-inch long white worm which was thought to be extinct, was discovered this spring.
Giant Gippsland Earthworms can be found in Australia. They have a length of about 2 to 3 meters (6.5 to 10 feet), and are about 2 cm (0.8 inches) in diameter.
