Right now, the worst hunger problems are obviously in Haiti where they just experienced a major earthquake. The Island-nation was already one of the poorest in the region with an 80% poverty rate. Other places in the world that face extreme hunger are places like Eastern Africa that was once colonized by the Europeans. When initially colonized, the African tribes were forced to learn new ways of food-getting as well as were forced into interaction with other tribes. Indigenous People that have had traditions for thousands of years only to see them taken away now face the consequences of extreme hunger and poverty because they are so used to using the land for their food resources. Unfortuntely, much of this indigenous knowledge was lost due to the colonization efforts.
