Historically, sea otters stretched from Japan along the coast of Siberia and the Aleutian Chain to Alaska southwards through British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, California, and Baja California. Now they can be found in Japan, Russia, Alaska, Canada, Washington, Oregon, and California.
Sea otters in North America are restricted to the Pacific Coast.
