Katydids, also known as bush crickets and more scientifically as tettigoniidae, are very common in North America and the tropics.  They are found in a variety of habitats, ranging from arid to temperate to tropical.  They can be found in rocky areas, coastlines, caves, rainforests – nearly all land habitats.
