Where and when was the llama domesticated?

    The llama was domesticated in South America, in approximately 5,000 B.C. by the Incas. They were first domesticated in the Andes mountains because of their ability to navigate high elevation and steep terrain while carrying loads. They also provided wool, food, etc.
