Where and when was the cow domesticated?

    The domestication of the cow is a widely debated topic. It was probably domesticated about 10,000 years ago. The cow and zebu probably share a common ancestor, the auroch/urus, which is from India.

    It appears that the cow was domesticated in the Fertile Crescent, what is now Iraq, some 8,000 years ago and then diffused throughout the Eurasian continent and possibly Africa. Check the link below for more details about this process.
