Oceans were created roughly 4.4 billion years ago, although there remains debate over where exactly the water arrived from. Many scientists believe that the oceans were created because of the falling of water-rich meteorites, while others stand by the theory that the Earth cooled, and the released water vapor was pressurized in the atmosphere, where it was stabilized and retained in liquid form.
The other answer deals with the water; if the questioner is interested in the ocean basins, there were of course ocean basins early in earth’s history as well, but the present ocean basins are considerably younger, thanks to plate tectonics and subduction. The oldest ocean crust anywhere is Jurassic in age, no more than about 200 million years old.
the ocean a thouasd years ago the ocean was made by the ice age
