The concept of an electric vehicle was first conceived in the 1830’s. A crude electric carriage was created by Professor Stratingh of Holland in 1835. In 1842, American Thomas Davenport invented a more realistic and useful version of the electric carriage. Both inventors utilized non-rechargeable battery cells.
