When were bison reintroduced to central Kansas?

A heard of 13 Bison was reintroduced to Kansas in October, 2009, bringing back the animal that once had over 60 million roaming the continental U.S.  The bison were introduced into the Flint Hills, considered one of the last tall grass prairies in North America.  They were brought from a National Park in North Dakota, and conservationists hope that the heard will spark a revival in the bison that used to be so plentiful in the U.S.
