When was the portable video recorder invented?

The very first home video recording system, aka a portable video recorder or a camcorder, came out in 1963.  Ampex introduced the VR-1500 video recorder, but it wasn’t very portable – it weighed about 100 pounds, was huge and incredibly expensive.  In the late 1960s, Sony, Panasonic and JVC came out with their own portable video recorders, and by the early 1970s, the models had gotten down to 30 pounds.  It wasn’t until the mid 1980s that the camcorder (camera recorder) really came out, making portable video recorders actually portable.
