When was the first wind turbine built?

    Wind power has been harnessed by humans as early as 200 B.C. by the Persians. The first practical windmills however were built in Sistan, Iran from the 7th century onwards. The earliest modern horizontal axis wind turbine was built in 1931 in Yalta, Russia.
