The world’s first solar panel was invented 60 years ago by a British science teacher who really just wanted to prove he could do it. Interestingly, the panel was recently found sitting in a box – and it still works perfectly. Read all about it here.
The first solar panel ever made was in 1954 by a group of American scientists including Calvin Fuller, Gerald Pearson and Daryl Chapin. Basically, these scientists developed a silicon solar cell with higher energy conversion efficiency. They then formed an array of several silicon strips placing them together to capture light energy and thus developed the first solar panel.
