In 1975, a prototype camera used a digital cassette to record an image instead of film.  It wouldn’t be until 1991 that a digital camera would be offered to the public on a wide scale, and even then it was only aimed to be used in the photojournalism field.  Several years later, in 1994 and 1995, the consumer level digital camera was released.  Since then, hundreds of models have been manufactured, and film has quickly become second choice to digital images.
