It is expected to double in the year 2013. The Blythe Solar Power Project was just recently approved to begin construction this year, and will take about 3 years to finish. It will be the world’s largest solar power plant, expanding across 7,025 acres of land and producing 1,000 MW of energy (enough to power 300,000 homes). Their goal is to produce 4.2% of the nation’s energy by 2020.
