When solar power first came out was the government helping it out like it is now?

Solar power has been around for a lot longer than we think, but the short answer to your question is no, because when Solar power first becae viable in the 1950’s, oil was so cheap that no one was looking for an alternative energy source. However, during the 1970’s, when oil prices skyrocketed, the government did help out by creating the Federal Photovoltaic Utilization Program, a 75 million dollar program designed to help create and distribute the solar power plant as we now know it. I hope this helped!
