It’s best to transplant Maple trees during the Spring, right after the ground thaws but before the buds on the tree starts to swell. Trees that were grown in a pot are easier to transplant than trees that have been grown in the Earth. You can also move Maple trees in the Fall after the leaves drop but before the ground freezes. You should allow time for more water absorbing roots to form before the ground freezes.
