The cultivation of coffee has been occurring for many years now. Of a few different tales of the origins of coffee, the most commonly accepted legend is that is originated in Eastern Africa around 600-800 A.D. As the legend goes, Kaldi, the shepherd, was tending his animals near present day Ethiopia, when he noticed his goats acting very oddly. They had been eating coffee beans from the nearby shrubs and seemed to have gained a lot of energy from it. So Kaldi tried it and told others about the magical substance that made you feel wide awake. A monk named Chadely was told of its effects and grounded the berries into a powder and poured boiling water onto it to create the first cup of coffee in the history of man.
