Well, you can trim them whenever you want, really. If they’re getting out of hand and taking up more than their allotted space, I would say that it’s a goo time to trim them. More detailed info in the link.
You can also trim it if you’re seeing any kind of unhealthiness. They tend to be high-maintenance plants sometimes, at least in my experience, so when they get a little sickly you can trim it give it a little “re-vamp” back to goodness.
