The best way to begin teaching children is by leading by example, this should begin as soon as possible if you haven’t already. Once your kids begin talking and asking curious questions you can begin explaining earth day to them. Keep the lecture simple but tell them why its important to protect the earth and ways that you as a family can help.

In my opinion, you should start exposing them and making them love nature as soon as possible. Even infants. Take them outside. Expose them to smells and shapes. Let them get dirty, touch leaves, climb things. This will make them fall in love with nature. The more you expose a young person to the earth, the more he will feel comfortablein nature and a part of nature.

When earth day comes, make it a celebration. Celebrate the sun, the moon, the outdoors. Natural celebration.

And most importantly, read cox01’s comment. It is absolutely correct. Lead by example. Children glorify their parents. They learn everything from you. You make something a big deal and so will they. Communication is key. Talk to your kids, no matter what age. They like to be respected and they feel honored when you trust them. Explain everything you do and why. Raise a curious child and you will not be disappointed.
