Generally, a tadpole’s lungs correspond with leg development. In other words, if your tadpole has legs, it probably has lungs.
However, the only way to know for sure is to watch your tadpole and see if it ever comes up to the surface for air. When it starts to do so, it is because it is now getting some or all of its oxygen from the air and not the water.
