Birds instinctively know when it’s time to migrate – this physiological “alarm” goes off when the sunlight hours get shorter or longer, depending on the season. This coincides with the change in temperature. Generally speaking, birds will migrate south in the spring (March-June) and north in the fall (September-November). Different species have different diets/adaptations, and therefore have different migratory patterns, but depending on the species you will see birds start to migrate south in the fall.
