When did we stop using steam engines?

    We stopped using steam engines when diesel fueled locomotives were invented. The diesel fueled engines were more efficient than steam engines were. May 6th, 1960 was the year that steam engines were replaced by diesel engines. More information can be found at the website in the citation field below.
