Asbestos was first documented as causing health complications as far back as 1906. Increased industrial usage in the early twentieth century prompted further study into its health effects. Reports as early as the 1930s regarding the materials dangers were filed away until the 1980s and 1990s when asbestos came under heavy scrutiny and was eventually eliminated from most industrial and commercial usages.
