The introduction of the “1977 Trinity” of personal computers (the Commodore PET, the Apple II, and the TRS-80) just about marked the advent of computers for mainstream consumers. The trinity turned computers from something of a niche technology to a near-must have, with millions of units beginning to sell annually. (I’m refering to the US only, here).
