Clinton passed a lot of legislation for the environment; Gore became the poster boy for global warming with “An Inconvenient Truth;” and Obama has placed a strong focus on alternative energies and combating climate change. Bush, on the other hand, restricted discussions on global warming and refused to acknowledge it as a problem. He cut the EPA’s funding, pulled the US out of the Kyoto Treaty, and focused on promoting the oil/gas industry for energy (Bush is a former oil company owner and executive).
I’d say the Democrats’ green recognition really began under Clinton, was illuminated by the environmental failures of Bush, and continued under Obama.
