The oldest complete set of useful dentures appeared in Japan. It was an wooden denture and was used by Nakaoka Tei in 1538. The first porcelain dentures were made around 1770 by Alexis Duchâteau.
Etruscans in north italy around 700 BC made dentures out of human or other animal teeth. These teeth deteriorated quickly but, being easy to produce, were popular until the mid 19th century.
