When did we start causing so much deforestation with our meat eating habits?

Like many bad things related to the meat industry, the rise of deforestation for meat sustainability took on it’s current institutionalized form at the beginning of the 20th century (around the 1920s) with the rise of factory farms. The need for large tracts of open land on which to manage millions of livestock per capita contributes to massive deforestation in both industrialized and developing countries.
