    We knew that environmental problems have been around since before the first environmental laws were passed. Environmental laws have been around since the first Earth Day, which was in 1970. The production of environmental laws have been inspired by ideas that have been around since World War II. The immediate cause of environmental laws was the announcement in 1963 that a power plant was going to be built near the Hudson River.
