The first use of synthetic pesticides dates back to the 1930s. Organochlorines pesticides were used starting in the 1940s. From about 1945 to 1965, these pesticides were used in a wide variety of manners. Some uses include agriculture and forestry, as well as protecting wooden buildings. In the 1970s, pyrethroid group of insecticides was introduced. This group is a more effective type of pesticide.
