Global warming as we know it began at the dawn of the industrial revolution, when we began to massively manufacture products, using energy from fossil fuels to do so. This started in the late 1600’s and early 1700’s. Note that natural variation in solar heat, which was responsible for the varying of the climate before humans began emissions, is not a part of global warming.
