    Fast food become popular in America in 1970 when Americans spent approximately $6 million on fast foods. Fast foods is apart of American society. The trend started in Southern California and at first consisted of hot dog stands and hamburger stands. Ever since the 1970s fast food has become a multi-million dollar business. The fast food trend has since become more and more popular. In 2000, Americans spent $110 million on fast food. Americans spend more money on fast food than on higher education, computers, software, movies, books, magazines, music, newspapers, and videos.

    Why is fast foods so popular? Fast foods is popular because it is convenient, easy, reasonably cheap and filling. Fast foods has come a long way from when it first began. No longer done with a personal touch, fast food industries have factories that make mass productions of fries, meat patties and etc. Now most fast foods are high in salt, saturated fats, trans fats, and may be processed, fast foods is not healthy for you. Many Americans as you can see enjoy fast foods even though it is not particularly healthy for you. The best thing to do is have a sense of moderation so one is able to enjoy the delicious fast food and also take care of one-self.
