Experts noticed a decline in bee populations in 2006. The trend continued steadily afterward and is still in decline. Typically in winter bee populations decline by 10% but this year they could decline by 30,40, or 50%. They do not know the exact cause, but they know there was an increase in pesticide use which is linked to the issue. Many other factors may have contributed including habitat destruction and loss of biodiversity.
